MINUTES OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING
November 7, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: The Regular Board Meeting was called to order by Chair Hautala at 5:30 p.m. on November 7, 2016 in the Robert L. Olson Conference Room, with the following in answer to roll call.

ROLL CALL:
Present:   Directors Donna Stevens, Robert Hill, Walt Hautala, Karen Christianson, Cyndi Worshek, Superintendent Allen

Absent:   Director Kathy Undeland

AGENDA APPROVAL:  Moved by Director Christianson seconded by Director Worshek to approve the agenda as presented.

All in favor---Motion passed.
 
DISTRICT PATRON AND VISITOR COMMENTS:  

Consent Agenda:  Moved by Director Christianson, seconded by Director Stevens to approve the consent agenda as presented:  Computer checks, Payroll and Hand Payables in the amount of $1,269,977.53; Regular Board Meeting Minutes of October 3, 2016; Tuition agreements with East Range Academy for 4 students with start dates of 9/6/16 and 10/17/16 and ISD 318 Grand Rapids for 1 student with a start date of 10/4/16.

All in favor----Motion passed.

Fund Transfer:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Hill to approve a permanent transfer of
$24,434.00 from the General Fund to Food Service effective June 30, 2016 to eliminate the Food Service Fund
balance deficit.

All in favor---Motion passed.

Fund Transfer:  Moved by Director Worshek, seconded by Director Christianson to approve a
permanent transfer of $714,643.70 effective for year end June 30, 2016 from the Construction Fund to the
Debt Service Fund.  Left over health and safety alternative facility bond proceeds will pay bond debt lowering
future levies.

All in favor---Motion passed.

HSA Deductible:  Moved by Director Worshek, seconded by Director Hill that the School Board agrees to
contribute 50% to the $2,000/$4,000 HSA deductible effective January 1, 2017.  The union memberships
would have to sign a memorandum of understanding incorporating the HSA plan along with the current plan
in place before enrollment into the HSA plan.

Early Childhood Parent Educator Hire:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Worshek to approve
Janis Allen as Early Childhood Parent Educator, up to 8 hours per week effective the 2016-2017 school year at
a rate of pay of $40.37 per hour. 

All in favor---Motion passed.

Early Childhood Parent Educator Hire:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Worshek to approve
Robin Licari as Early Childhood Parent Educator, up to 8 hours per week effective the 2016-2017 school year
at a rate of pay of $39.15 per hour. 

All in favor---Motion passed.

2016-2017 Extra-Curricular Activities:  Moved by Director Hautala, seconded by Director Stevens to approve
the 2016-2017 Extracurricular Activity Assignments as presented. Bob Saumer – Audio Visual Aids Director;

Group Medicare Renewal Rates:  Moved by Director Hill, seconded by Director Christianson to approve the
Group Medicare Renewal Rates at presented.

Director Hautala abstained from voting

All in favor---Motion passed.

Computer Technology Teacher Hire:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Hill to approve Tiffany
Bockelmann to the position of .17 FTE Computer Technology Teacher effective September 6, 2016.

All in favor---Motion passed.

Change of Salary Lane:  Moved by Director Hautala, seconded by Director Hill to approve the Change of
Salary Lane for Tiffany Bockelmann from BA to BA + 24 effective the 2016-2017 school year.

All in favor---Motion passed.

Education Innovation Partners Annual Dues:  Moved by Director Worshek, seconded by Director Christianson to approve the EIP (Education Innovation Partners) annual membership dues for FY 17 in the amount of $6,913.00.

All in favor---Motion passed.

Leave of Absence:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Christianson to approve a leave of absence for Mariah Peterson effective March 16, 2017 until the end of the school year. 

All in favor---Motion passed.

Leave of Absence:  Moved by Director Hill, seconded by Director Stevens to approve a leave of absence for Lindsey Sova effective January 19, 2017 for six weeks.

All in favor---Motion passed.

Paraprofessional Resignation:  Moved by Director Stevens, seconded by Director Worshek to accept the
resignation of Norma Jean Jofs effective September 23, 2016 with appreciation for her years of dedicated
service to the district. 

All in favor---Motion passed.

Spanish Trip:  Moved by Director Christianson, seconded by Director Stevens to approve the 2018 Spanish
Trip with the destination to be determined at a later date. 

All in favor---Motion passed.

Winter Coaching Recommendations:  Moved by Director Hautala, seconded by Director Hill to approve the
following winter coaching recommendations for the 2016-2017 winter sports season:  Dan Darbo – Head

Accept Donations:  Moved by Director Worhsek, seconded by Director Christianson to accept the following
donations:  Monetary donation of $1,866.02 earmarked for Project Elf; Monetary donation of $566 earmarked
for the Kids Closet; Clothes, socks, snow pants, gloves and jackets to be used for children in need;  WF
Community Connection Grant in the amount of $1,000 earmarked for High School; Monetary donation of $125
earmarked for music programs; Monetary donation of $1,000 earmarked for Project Elf.
